Here at Central, there are many opportunities to minister to others.  You are invited to lend your support to those missions that speak to your heart.   We are always seeking new ways to help our fellowman in addition to these existing missions:

  • Sharing our food bounty
    • We pack Thanksgiving and Christmas food boxes for locals in need of a Holiday meal. We do this in memory of Marilyn Driggers and Marilyn Ledford, who worked tirelessly to provide food before their passing.
    • We partner with Mount Airy City Schools to provide food bags for students to have at home over Fall, Spring, and Summer Break.
    • We partner with Yokefellow ministry to provide free food staples and funding as needed
  • Sharing warmth and encouragement
    • We partner with Trinity Warming Station to provide a warm place to sleep and food to eat for homeless individuals on freezing nights
    • We partner with the Surry County Opioid Response Team by packing Hygiene kits for those in recovery, including washcloths and toboggans lovingly hand crocheted by women of our church
    • Partnering with Grace's Closet to provide gently used clothing at no cost for men, women and children in need
  • Sharing our hearts
    • We offer regular Grief Share meeting with trained leaders for anyone in our church or community that may be grieving a loss.
    • Our Prayer Shawl Ministry hand crochets afghans and lap shawls for our members and friends suffering serious illness and lengthy hospitalization.
    • We offer a Longest Night service in December for our members and friends who have suffered loss or loneliness and may need special uplifting during the Christmas Season.
    • We remember our animal friends who lift us up through the year with a Blessing of the Animals service in our courtyard
    • We share fun, candy, and hotdogs with our local community at our annual Halloween Trunk or Treat.
  • Sharing Love at Christmas 
    • We partner with SCC Angels to offer small clothing, hygiene or staple food gifts for students in need at Surry Community College
    • We partner with Salvation Army Angels by providing clothing and toys for local children in need, (The Pacesetters Sunday School Group have supported for at least 20 years)
    • We collect staple food items at our White Christmas Service to be distributed at Christmas through Yokefellow.
    • We have partnered with Shoebox ministry to pack boxes with small toys, school supplies and hygiene gifts to be sent abroad to children who might receive no Christmas gifts.
  • Sharing in Disaster Relief
    • We support UMCOR…United Methodist Committee on Relief… with monetary gifts to be used as needed for disaster relief globally.
    • We have purchased and packed containers and cleaning supplies for Flood Buckets to be distributed as needed in disaster areas
    • We have collected and disbursed clothing for disaster victims
  • Sharing across the world - International Partners
    • We partner with Child Crisis Center in Uganda
    • We partner with Magooili Church in Uganda supplying Bibles and funds for books and worship needs.
